Concerts Leiden English Choir

The annual Christmas concert of the Leiden English Choir is the start of the Christmas week for many visitors. This year the choir will again provide a varied and atmospheric program. Due to the great interest, two performances are planned: on Friday 19 December in the Goede Herderkerk in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk and on Saturday 20 December in the Marekerk in Leiden.

The program is titled Sweet was the Song, taken from the fourth carol from composer Richard R. Bennett' s Five Carols . In addition to this modern classic, the choir performs a selection of traditional and contemporary Christmas Carols, including the enchanting O Radiant Dawn and the energetic Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day. The programme also includes works by beloved composers such as Edvard Grieg, Benjamin Britten and John Rutter.

The Leiden English Choir will be accompanied during both concerts by Adriaan Hoek on organ and piano and by harpist Liesbeth van Bostelen. Of course, the audience is traditionally invited to sing along with some carols.
