The morning of October 3rd traditionally begins with the Reveille, an event that you absolutely cannot miss. The Reveille is an early morning gathering where the day is festively ushered in with music and song.
At exactly 7:00 AM, the sound of the Reveille trumpet call rings out from the City Hall tower , the official start of the celebration of Leiden’s Relief! But from 6:30 AM onwards, you can already gather at the City Hall Square, where you’ll be welcomed by the festive tunes of the brass band De Keietoeters.
After the trumpet call, you’ll join the crowd in singing a number of well-known songs to kick off the day in a joyful spirit. Once the singing ends, the traditional ‘ommegang’ begins, a procession through the Haarlemmerstraat, along the Prinsessekade and the Breestraat, back to City Hall.
