The Dutch Income Tax Return Season 2026, Here’s How to Prepare
From 1 March onwards, it is possible to submit your Dutch income tax return. By preparing a few key documents in advance, you can make the filing process significantly easier and avoid unnecessary stress as the deadline approaches.
It is helpful to already gather your 2025 income statements, such as salary, benefits or pension overviews, as well as your bank and savings statements from the beginning and end of the year. If you own a home, your WOZ property valuation and mortgage details may also be relevant. In addition, information about investments, shares, crypto assets, outstanding debts and potential deductible expenses, such as healthcare costs or charitable donations, will help you later on to ensure that all information is complete when filling in your tax return.
Changes in your personal situation
If your personal or financial situation changed during 2025, your tax return may require additional attention. This could apply if you moved to or from the Netherlands, bought or sold a property, started living with a partner, got married or divorced, welcomed a child, started or ended a business, or received income from other sources. In these situations, professional support can help you avoid errors and ensure you do not miss any tax benefits.
