Peurbakkentocht

The Peurbakkentocht is one of the fixed pillars of Stadsfestival de Lakenfeesten. In this annual tradition, everyone participates: either you stand on a peurbak (boat) or you stand on the stands on the shore looking at a purgatory. There is no other choice, because the Peurbakkentocht...? You just have to be there!

The starting signal is given at 19.00, after which the peurbaks make their journey across the Leiden waters. A jury that changes annually will judge all the bargees in the categories Associations, Companies and Private individuals. There is also a creativity prize with which participants can win the Aad van der Luit Trophy for the most original and creative peat box.
