Leiden International Centre invites internationals in the region to the English-sub screening of 'Tis maar eens per jaar, the beautiful documentary about the Leiden Ontzet celebrations.
Why do we stand in the rain to watch the parade year after year? Or queue for Herring and White Bread early in the morning with a hangover? In short, what is the magic of this centuries-old folk festival? In this film, we follow four residents of Leiden leading up to and during the 450th celebration of the Relief of Leiden. A story about the power of tradition and Leiden identity. An ode to our beautiful city!
