Heritage Day Leiderdorp

On Saturday, 13 September 2025, Leiderdorp will once again open its doors during the 22nd edition of Open Monument Day.

This day is dedicated to the national theme “Heritage & Architecture – Built to Last”. From historic farms to characteristic houses and unique churches.

What is there to do?

Between 12:00 and 17:00, there are ten monumental locations in Leiderdorp to admire, including:

The striking Dorpskerk and the former municipal school on Kerklaan
The iconic Koningshuis (Hoofdstraat 2), open to the public (in part) for the first time.
The former municipal school, which is being converted into a residence.
Huize Helena with its monumental staircase in Baroque style.
The neo-Renaissance Reformed Church, where you can climb the tower (at your own risk!).
Pothuis-Hoeve, where various buildings can be viewed.

Some buildings can be viewed from the inside, others can only be admired from the outside – but everywhere, volunteers, residents and guides are happy to tell you more about the history and architecture.

Additional activities include:
A photo exhibition by Fotoclub Daguerre in the Dorpskerk.
Theatrical storytelling by Reverend Honnef.
Take a walk through the Doeskwartier from the Van Gessel Viewing and Pick-up Point. Inside, you can admire models of old shops from the Doeskwartier and Huis ter Does castle.

Lectures, live music, guided tours, a children's treasure hunt and a video exhibition.

Special transport: hop-on hop-off train 

All locations can be reached on foot or by bicycle, but you can also use the event train, which runs a route past the monuments via six stops. Along the way, you can get off for a short walk or a guided tour.
