Golden Room Lecture - The Mauritshuis in Wartime

The International Friends are delighted to welcome you to a very special lecture in the Golden Room, preceded by drinks and nibbles in the Brasserie.

During World War II, the Mauritshuis was at the heart of the political power centre of the Nazi occupation of The Hague. Wilhelm Martin, the Mauritshuis director at the time, faced many challenges in protecting the world-famous collection of paintings, and dealing with German propaganda.

Quentin’s lecture will highlight the exhibition's paintings, photographs, film footage, audio recordings and historic objects that have been used to take visitors back to the Mauritshuis of 1940-45.
