The Klassiek Collectief places contemporary symphonic music alongside one of the greatest masterpieces of the Romantic era and demonstrates that the two can indeed coexist and that, controversy notwithstanding, the beauty of the music always prevails.
During the Cold War, the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party and his wife danced for the American president. In the present day, two bassoonists demonstrate how far their instrument can go. And a composer who was not allowed to show his true self nevertheless created perhaps his best and most emotional work.
