The 3rd edition of the 112-day Voorschoten at the Burgemeester van der Haarplein is coming up. Young people can marvel at all the wonderful things that emergency services, such as ambulances, fire departments, police, law enforcement, and the Leiden Recovery Region, have to offer. The Voorschoten law enforcement officers are new to the program this year. They will also be making an appearance and will provide information from their area of expertise or on anything you'd like to know. The vehicle will be there, so feel free to come and see them. The police will be present with various vehicles, including an emergency vehicle (those cars that race through the village with flashing lights and sirens), the riot police bus, and a motorcycle for the necessary photos. A police bus and a recovery truck may also be present. Children can dress up in special little police uniforms at the stall. This was a great success last year.
The fire department will, of course, be there with "Spuit 41," the new fire engine, and the state-of-the-art water transport truck. This vehicle carries 500 meters of hose and 10,000 liters of water. All future-proof. The fire department will also give a demonstration on the grounds (time to be announced). Children can also try their hand at the fire engine in various watering games. To top it all off, Sam the Firefighter and Paw Patrol will also be making an appearance.
The ambulance service will have a CPR dummy in their stall for practice. You can also ask them anything about the car, and you might even be allowed to lie down in the bed for a bit, even though you're perfectly fine.
The face painting is always a big hit. The ladies are often very busy, but they enjoy it. There's also a bouncy castle on the lawn for the little ones.
For a fee, there's a pancake stand for refreshments, and the Moments ice cream cart for refreshing ice cream. In short, a fun afternoon program.
