Duivenvoorde Castle, Open to the Public

The Castle Duivenvoorde in Voorschoten, is open to the public from April to September 15th on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

The first mention of 'Duvenvoirt' dates back to 1226. At that time, it was still a square defensive tower, a so-called donjon. Commissioned by Johan van Wassenaer, the castle was given its current appearance in 1631. Duivenvoorde was always a family summer residence until its last owner transferred it to a foundation in 1960. Since then, the castle and the walking park have been open to visitors, wonderful events are held there, and there's plenty to do at Duivenvoorde.

Tours for the museum in English will take place in July, August and September.  See website for details.
