A stronger regional ecosystem for science, innovation and collaboration

| Key Region Leiden

On July 7th, Key Region Leiden was officially launched at Leiden Bio Science Park. This renewed public-private partnership brings together seven municipalities, three knowledge institutions, three business associations and three leading innovation clusters: Leiden Bio Science Park, NL Space Campus and Unmanned Valley. Together, they are committed to addressing societal challenges in health, security and European strategic autonomy through long-term cooperation.

Where science becomes real-world application

Key Region Leiden is home to groundbreaking solutions that emerge from the intersection of fundamental research and high-tech entrepreneurship. From cultivated meat and medical drones to AI-driven pharmaceuticals and satellite-supported construction, this region accelerates innovation with impact.

Relevance for international talent

The launch highlights the region’s commitment to scientific excellence. Achieving these ambitions depends on attracting and retaining skilled talent, including professionals from outside the Netherlands.

One example is Meatable, featured during the launch, whose team of over 20 nationalities reflects the international talent driving innovation in the region.
