Effective Communication: Speaking With Heart and Backbone

Discover the art of communication through a 3-hour workshop designed to enhance your skills in Non-Violent Communication (NVC) and Assertiveness.

Led by experienced psychologists with a deep understanding of these methods, this workshop offers practical insights into empathetic and respectful communication.

WHAT

Our workshop begins with an introduction to the principles of Nonviolent Communication, as developed by Marshall Rosenberg. This approach emphasises empathy, compassion, and collaboration. It guides participants in expressing their feelings and needs without judgment or aggression. We explore how to communicate effectively, even in the face of strong emotions like anger, focusing on shared human values and needs.
We will then delve into the realm of assertive communication. This segment of the workshop focuses on how to express yourself, your feelings, and assert your rights in a respectful and direct manner. We will discuss and practice the delicate balance between being assertive without crossing into aggressiveness, and how to maintain your boundaries while respecting others

WHO

The workshop is offered by two young and talented psychologists, Drs. Roy Kamienchik and Isha Chauhan.

Roy has a master’s degree in clinical psychology and a master’s degree in social-organizational psychology, as well as a license for Schema Therapy. He prefers to use an integrative approach with a focus on schema-therapy, cognitive behavioral interventions, interventions from mindfulness-based approaches (such as acceptance commitment therapy), and psychodynamic methods.

Isha moved from India to the Netherlands in 2013 to pursue a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Leiden University. Her personal experience as a non-European in the Netherlands makes her able to empathise with some universal themes that internationals struggle with. She is specialized in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but is also convinced that psychological treatment should be tailored according to the client's needs.
