Green Glasses Book Launch
You are kindly invited to the launch of ‘Green Glasses’, a book about internationals living in the old city of Leiden. The book was written by Magdalena Palma, a Chilean journalist, and is published by Blaauwberg, a Leiden-based knowledge company.
Magdalena arrived with her husband in Leiden in 2020, shortly before covid paralysed the world. In 2023 she wanted to make up for the time lost. In contact with Blaauwberg, the ambition arose to picture the daily life of ‘internationals’ in their new (temporary) hometown. She interviewed many people from around the globe and turned these interviews into ten short stories. Together they present a surprising view of the city, even for long-time dwellers. Hence the subtitle of the book:
“Green glasses. Adding new perspectives to the Leiden experience.”
In the political climate of the moment, new perspectives are urgently needed. Her book focuses on how internationals find their way and how they contribute to daily life.
