The Matthäus Passion by J.S. Bach is considered as one of the most favorite compositions in the Passiontide in the Netherlands.

Like no other, The Bach Choir & Orchestra is able to bring the symbolism, emotion and comfort to you as a listener. The dynamic and expressive sounds of their performances are particularly striking. The musicians in the orchestra play with authentic instruments from Bach's time. The orchestra is one of the top baroque orchestras in Europe.

Johann Sebastian Bach devised a unique arrangement for his magnus opus: two choirs and two orchestras. The composition tells the chronological passion story of Christ in which symbolism plays a major role. Bach used various mixed media to get rich effects. He wrote specific roles for both instruments and soloists. The narrator: the evangelist, takes you through the story. He is alternated by the chorus, born intimate and then again overwhelming. Each soloist has its own dimension such as love, sorrow, consolation, compassion.

The music of The Bach Orchestra plays authentic instruments from Bach's time and The Bach Choir is praised for its dynamic and expressive sound. The (inter)national soloists have an enormous conviction that will be audible and visible during the masterful arias. They are like no other able to convey the symbolism, emotion and comfort to you as a listener.
