More than 150 hand-colored photos and various objects offer a unique insight into Japan in the late 19th century.

Known for its comprehensiveness, the Kurokawa Collection is one of the most important and extensive private collections of Meiji photography in the world. The works of famous photographers such as Felice Beato, Baron Raimund von Stillfried, Adolfo Farsari, Kusakabe Kimbei, Ueno Hikoma and Shimooka Renjō are in exceptionally good condition and have never been shown before.
